“It’s just words, folks. It’s just words.” – Donald Trump, United States presidential candidate
So, what do words mean? What do the words someone chooses to use say about them?
Do words mean more than just the words?
What do words say about a man who brags about physical relationships with married women and celebrity groupies? What does it say about a man when his words fail to immediately answer if he exhibits this behavior? (Insecure?)
What do words say about a man that attributes drugs, rape and violence to a whole group of people? What does it say when he blames terrorism on one of the world’s major religions? (Intolerant?)
What do words say about a man that glorifies authoritarian governments and questions the commitment of our allies? What does it say when he threatens to pull support from the countries who are our first line of defense because they aren’t paying their fair share? (Dangerous?)
What do words say about a man who uses “the” in front of (the) African-American and (the) Latinos? What does it say when he repeatedly uses inner city in the same sentence when discussing both minority groups? (Bigot?)
What do words say about a man who refuses to divulge his financial records and then says it’s smart to avoid paying taxes? What does it say when he brags about exploiting the United States system of taxation when the rest of us can’t? (Hypocrite?)
What do words say about a man that threatens to lockup his political opponent if he wins the race? What does it say when he asks a foreign government to hack her personal accounts? (Dictator?)
What do words say about a man who uses them one day and denies it the next … over and over and over and over? What does it say when he goes on a week long Twitter tirade attacking a beauty queen for her weight? (Lack of control?)
What do words say about a man when his words insight fear, distrust and intolerance? What does it say when his words attempt to salt the ground of any that don’t support his point of view? (Hater?)
And, folks, what does it say about America when people support his polices of intolerance, control and hypocrisy? (?)
You know, he is right in a way. It is just words, folks; it’s all about the words. And sometimes, folks, the words chosen are much more important than what is being said …
(Oh, yeah. Feel free to fact check me …)
